Paris

Second largest economy in the European Union and its largest capital market since London left the single market. Asset management is concentrated in Paris and La Defense, with a domestic investor base among the deepest in Europe.

France runs a two-regulator model. Markets, management companies and the products they sell sit with one authority, while banking and insurance supervision sits with another, and the two run a joint unit for consumer-facing questions.

Regulates the French financial market, with a mandate to protect savings invested in financial products, keep investors informed and ensure markets function properly. Authorises and supervises management companies and investment services providers, approves products, maintains public databases of decisions and of savings products, and publishes blacklists and white lists of firms. Banking and insurance prudential supervision sits with a separate authority.
