Long-term diamond revenue fund

Botswana Pula Fund

Held and managed by the central bank as the long-term tranche of the country's foreign exchange reserves: reserves in excess of what is expected to be needed in the medium term are transferred to the Pula Fund and invested according to separate, longer-dated investment guidelines. Given the long experience in managing this fund, the Bank has been closely involved in international discussions regarding prudent management of sovereign wealth funds and in the formulation of the Santiago Principles.
